Technical Program Manager - up to 22 hours per week

Mission: Catalyze SV’s mission is to engage community members, developers, & city leaders to envision and create sustainable, equitable & vibrant places for people in Silicon Valley.

 

Summary: Catalyze SV (CSV) and Code for San José (CfSJ) have formed a partnership to hire a part-time Technical Program Manager to be the point person leading the design of one or more innovative, technical community engagement tools for use by local governments in Silicon Valley.

 

Responsibilities:

  • ​Co-lead the strategy to plan and execute our community engagement technical tool (from initial focus groups and iterative design through usability testing and product implementation/advocacy).

  • Manage a team of CfSJ volunteers, including but not limited to user experience designers and software engineers. 

  • Foster an environment of continuous improvement and manage critical operational infrastructure like communication channels and agile planning tools.

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for the community, and integrate community feedback when identifying and driving complex product initiatives.

  • Drive the project forward with effective stakeholder meetings, expert partnership management, and superb communication with community partners, Code for San Jose, and Catalyze SV. 

  • Proactively assess risk and obtain consensus from stakeholders when developing and implementing processes related to the project.

  • Support the CSV/CfSJ management team with interpersonal communication, proactive problem solving and timely distribution of information.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 1 year of experience working with product teams or programs from roadmapping through delivery

  • 1 year of experience working directly with product designers, UX researchers, and content strategists

  • Experience managing vendors and contractors

  • Experience using data to identify problems and communicate solutions

  • Knowledge of how local government operates

  • Commitment to the values of Catalyze SV and Code for San José (a brigade of Code for America)

  • Able to meet hard deadlines with thorough work

  • Display strong people skills & cultural competence when working with community groups

  • Able to work independently

  • Exhibit integrity and honesty when tracking your hours & work 

  • Bilingual in Spanish, Vietnamese, ASL or Mandarin is a plus

 

Supervision & Compensation: 

The Technical Program Manager will report to CSV’s Executive Director & Code for San José’s Captain during weekly joint check-ins. CSV is a fiscally-sponsored project of Social Good Fund (SGF). Thus, you’ll legally be an employee of SGF and governed by its employment policies (unless otherwise specified by CSV).

 

You will be paid $32/hour for a maximum 22 hours per week. You will be paid twice monthly. This position will not provide health care benefits or paid time off. CSV will provide a monthly transit stipend to you once in-person work returns. 

 

The individual in this role will work remotely until the pandemic subsides. Thereafter, it’s anticipated you can work part-time remotely & part-time in shared office space provided by CSV. As regular work hours will vary, this position allows for considerable flexibility in scheduling.
